Aktion Club of Open Door raised $600 at their annual car wash, with all proceeds benefitting “Go Baby, Go”, a program that retrofits battery operated cars for toddlers born with spina bifida. This disease sometimes leaves children paralyzed, or with mobility issues. These special cars increase a child’s mobility, and enables them to join in playground activities, helping in peer socialization.

Sponsored by the Tri-County Kiwanis Club, Aktion Club members are honored to hold this important fundraising event each summer, and are thankful for the support they receive from the community. “I’m proud of what we accomplished and we are doing a great job getting people to help with our cause,” said David S., an Aktion Club member. “Disabled people can do lots of things to help kids.”

Aktion Club provides adults with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative, leadership skills, and to serve their communities. Open Door has an extremely active membership, and holds a variety of activities all year long, in order to raise funds for children in need.
