PBS Day

L-R—Mike Shepard, Jim Teckenbrock, Plano Police Chief Jonathan Whowell, Sandwich Police Chief Jim Bianchi, Sandwich Chamber Exec. Director Geri Benning and Sandwich Mayor Rich Robinson.

The public is invited to attend the 3rd annual "Plano-Bologna-Sandwich Day" event, on Thursday, October 24th during the observance of "National Bologna Day."

Our local celebration will take place outdoors, weather permitting, at the corner of Rt. 34 and Tara St. near the Montcler Hotel (formerly Timber Creek Inn,) between Plano and Sandwich.

Events begin at 4:00 p.m., with official opening ceremonies at 5:00 p.m. and live music from the "Baloney Brothers Band" from Joliet. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Montcler Hotel.

This event doubles as a food drive to stock our local pantries serving Plano and Sandwich, and also to bring about hunger awareness in this area.

If you bring any non-perishable food items you will get a ticket for your very own Bologna sandwich, prepare by Ed Schlening's Wurst Kitchen of Aurora, or, you can pay a $5 donation and still get a sandwich.

An alternative option to the sandwich will be a bratwurst. This year will feature the "World's Shortest Marathon," the .005K Fun Run (16 feet) and a "That's Baloney!" trivia contest.

This year, our "Co-Mayors" of Balogna, Illinois will be Sandwich and Plano Police Chiefs Jim Bianchi and Jonathon Whowell.
