A court order signed by a Clay County Judge is summoning Governor J.B. Pritzker to appear in court next Friday to explain why he has continued to issue executive orders to fight COVID-19 despite an earlier ruling that he lacks the authority to do so.
The civil court summons were signed after St. Rep. Darren Bailey complained to a judge that Pritzker was violating the previous ruling. The court order says that a warrant for the governor's arrest could be issued if he doesn't appear.
In the past, Governor Prtizker has said that the ruling from Clay County lacks legal standing because other courts around the state have sided with his executive orders.
The order was posted on St. Rep. Bailey's social media and can be viewed below.
