Authorities have provided more information on a serious crash that occurred on Friday afternoon near Newark where they say one person was airlifted with injuries and another person was also hospitalized.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office says in an update that a three-vehicle crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. at Route 71 and Newark Rd.

According to a report, a vehicle being driven by 54 year-old Luis Garcia of Southport Ct. in Bolingbrook, allegedly struck a vehicle being driven by 50 year-old Delores Tully of Harrison St. in Ransom.

A third vehicle, being driven by 46 year-old Donna Perkins of Tealwood Rd. in Boulder Hill then struck the vehicle that was driven by Garcia.

Garcia was taken via Life Flight Helicopter to a hospital for treatment. He was also cited for Improper Lane Usage.

Meanwhile, the sheriff's office says Tully was transported by EMS to be treated for her injuries and Perkins declined medical treatment.

The crash was the second serious accident that occurred in the southern portion of Kendall County last week. As WSPY reported on Thursday, a 72 year-old Niles woman died and a 44 year-old Girard man was airlifted in a crash on Thursday near Lisbon Twp. on Route 47 near Sherill Rd.


Authorities were called to the scene of another serious accident in Kendall County, this Friday afternoon on Route 71 near Newark.

Information about crash on Route 71 near Newark Rd. has not yet been released.
