Note to Readers: Information presented here is obtained from the city police and sheriff's departments. Individuals listed in reports who have been charged with a crime have not been proven guilty in court.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Office:

Two Chicago men were arrested for Theft of Services following an incident in DeKalb on Monday.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Kishwaukee Hospital at around 6:26 p.m. to investigate a report of two males who had taken a taxi from Chicago to the hospital and failed to pay the $114.67 fare.

Deputies located 19-year-old Rodger Cooper Jr. of W. Van Buren and 18-year-old Jeremiah Brown of W. Huron St. after getting a description from the taxi driver.

Cooper and Brown allegedly admitted to taking the taxi from Chicago and said they had no means to pay the fare.

Deputies arrested Cooper and Brown for Theft of Services and transported them to the DeKalb County Jail for booking procedures.

LaSalle County Sheriff's Office:

One person was injured in an accident that occurred in LaSalle County near Marseilles around 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office said a vehicle driven by 23 year-old Laquanda Baker of Chicago was traveling northbound on East 24th Road when she turned south onto Route 71 in the path of a vehicle driven by 51 year-old Anna Cronin of LaSalle. Cronin was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Cronin was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa by Marseilles EMS. Baker and a passenger in each vehicle were treated at the scene. Baker was cited for failing to yield at an intersection.

Oswego Police Department:

Officials with the Oswego Police Department are currently investigating an unlawful use of a credit card incident that occurred on Monday.

According to a report, officers responded to the 200 blk. of Springbrook Trl. S. at around 11:30 a.m. to investigate.

The complainant stated that a juvenile allegedly used her credit card without her permission.

An investigation is on-going.

Officials with the Oswego Police Department are currently investigating a retail theft incident that occurred on Monday.

According to a report, officers responded to the 2300 blk. of Rt. 34 at around 6:05 p.m. to investigate.

Upon arrival, officers found that $70 in unspecified merchandise had been stolen from the business.

An investigation is on-going.
