A 16 year-old male juvenile has been arrested and charged with Murder in fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month in Aurora, on the city's southeast side.
Aurora Police say after investigation, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office has authorized a Class X Felony count of First-Degree Murder against the 16 year-old, who turned himself in to police on Sunday night.
As WSPY previously reported, just before midnight on February 8th, officers were called to reports of a person shot at an apartment in the 400
block of Sherman Ave.
When officers arrived, they found 20 year-old John Smith of the address, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Smith was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
In an update, officials say following an investigation, detectives determined the 16-year-old allegedly entered the apartment and shot Smith during an argument.'
Following the juvenile turning himself in to police on Sunday, he was transported to the Kane County Youth Home.

In an update on Monday, Aurora Police said that John Smith of the 600 block of Sumner Avenue is the deceased.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a person shot at an apartment in the 400 blk. of Sherman Ave. just before midnight on Friday.
When officers arrived they found the victim, now identified as Smith, suffering from a gun shot wound to his chest.
Smith was pronounced deceased at an area hospital.
Officials with the police department say detectives are continuing to investigate circumstances of the shooting but at this time, they believe the the crime does not appear to be random in nature.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police or crime stoppers. No arrests have been announced at this point.

Detectives from Aurora Police’s Investigation’s Division responded to the scene to begin conducting an investigation.
Officers canvassed the area looking for witnesses and information about the shooting.
APD’s crime lab and evidence technicians also responded to the scene to identify and collect forensic evidence from the shooting.
Officials with the police department say the crime does not appear to be random in nature.
