An Aurora man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Friday for sexually assaulting a young child he knew.
According to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, 36-year-old Enrique Arce of Hazelnut Ln. agreed to the sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of Class X felony Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.
An attorney stated in court that between Mar. 2018 and Aug. 2018, Arce sexually assaulted the victim in the case.
Arce knew the victim, who was younger than 13-years-old.
In addition to the prison term, Arce must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
In accordance with Illinois law, Arce must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence.
Arce receives credit for 527 days served in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $1 million bail.
