UPDATE 10/4/19:

A former employee in Plano School District #88 facing 12 new child pornography and solicitation of a child charges has since resigned his position in the district.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office announced the new charges Thursday evening for 39 year-old Jason Leifheit of Bertram Dr. in Yorkville.

Plano Supt. Tony Baker confirmed on Friday that Leifheit resigned shortly after he was charged and the district's board of education accepted his resignation on September 23rd.

School officials say the man worked within a special education cooperative in Plano.

Documents listed Leifheit as a "teacher" under a personnel report for the Plano Area Special Education Cooperative. Additional documents listed Leifheit as a paraprofessional, early childhood teacher and long-term substitute.

The sheriff's office says that on September 30th, Leifheit was additionally charged with nine counts of Child Pornography Possession and three counts of Indecent Solicitation of a Child.

The charges of Indecent Solicitation of a Child resulted from alleged electronic communications Leifheit had with two subjects whom he believed to be children under the age of 18. Officials say one subject has been positively identified as an out-of-state juvenile who never had in-person contact with Leifheit. Investigation into the second subject is ongoing.

Sheriff's office officials told WSPY last month that students within Plano CUSD #88 schools are not believed to be victim in the cases.

Leifheit was charged last month with 10 counts, four Class X felonies for Dissemination or Reproduction and six Class 2 felonies for Possession of Child Porn.

Kendall County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Caleb Waltmire told WSPY that the sheriff's office does not have any indication that the manufacture of the child porn was done by Leifheit. Waltmire added that essentially, "rules out it was associated with students in the schools."

On July 24th, sheriff's officials began an investigation into an online user who was alleged to be in possession of child pornography.

After determining the identity was Leifheit, detectives from the sheriff’s office, assisted by detectives from the Yorkville Police Department and members of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office High Tech Crime Bureau, executed two search warrants pursuant to the investigation.

Leifheit remains out on bond pending his next court date.
