The driver of a vehicle, who died in a fatal LaSalle County crash on I-80, earlier this week, has now been identified.
The LaSalle County Coroner's Office says in an update that 32-year-old Chelsea B. Davis of LaSalle is the deceased.
Davis died, following a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.
Illinois State Police say troopers responded to the crash at mile post 82, east of Utica, around 11:28 a.m.
According to a report, preliminary investigation indicates a 49 year-old Goodfield man, operating a truck-tractor with a semi-trailer, was westbound when he slowed, due to a traffic backup resulting from a vehicle fire further west in the westbound lane.
ISP says a 68 year-old Woodridge woman was also headed west behind the semi when she slowed.
The driver of a third vehicle, now identified as Davis, was also westbound behind the Woodridge woman's vehicle.
Authorities say Davis failed to slow for the traffic backup and struck the rear of the Woodridge woman's vehicle.
Before coming to a stop, Davis also struck the rear of the semi trailer.
State Police say neither the Goodfield man or the Woodridge woman were injured.
The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
The Utica Fire Department and ambulance also responded. No citations have been issued.
