Drivers in Plano on South Main Street near Klatt Park, will have a detour the next few months as construction for a new bridge over Big Rock Creek takes place.

The bridge was the last one-lane bridge opened to traffic in Kendall County, a steel and concrete structure.

Plano Public Works Director Nate Bullard told Plano City Council aldermen about the project.

Elsewhere the city unanimously approved a public work requests totaling $14,000. O’Donnell Excavating and Trucking of Sugar Grove was awarded a contract to repair blacktop and concrete streets around water main repair areas. Bullard said he sought five proposals, received three bids and are going with the lowest quote.

A facade improvement matching grant also was awarded to Ivana’s Cafe for $2,500 while another business down the street will be scheduled for a possible grant at the next city council meeting.
