Our sister station WCSJ reports that Minooka Village President Patrick Brennan was extended emergency powers during an emergency meeting on March 18 to help the village navigate the coronavirus pandemic.
Minooka officials hope the action taken by the village board will help with municipal operations.
Village Administrator Dan Duffy spoke of how the situation has prompted the village board to change the way it normally operates.
Typically, the village board is required to post agendas and notices at least 48 hours in advance of public meetings in accordance to the Open Meetings Act.
Duffy had this to say of the village board’s decision to extend the powers of the village president.
Any action taken by the village president will require ratification by members of the village board at a later date.
Duffy took time highlight the various precautions the village has taken amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The emergency powers extended to the village president are anticipated to expire at the village board’s April 28 meeting.
