A 49 year-old Aurora woman has been identified as the deceased in a fatal crash where the woman allegedly fled a Kane County Sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop in Aurora on Monday.

The Kane County Coroner's Office says that Marcie Lopez of Aurora is the deceased.

According to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, a Kane County Sheriff's deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Mountain St. and Farnsworth Ave. at around 8:15 p.m.

Lopez, who was the driver of the vehicle, allegedly fled northbound on Farnsworth Ave., jumped the median and struck a Jeep that was headed southbound on Farnsworth Ave.

Officials said that Lopez was ejected from her vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The coroner's office says that an autopsy was conducted on Lopez on Tuesday and that toxicology samples were sent to a forensic lab for analysis.

The driver of the Jeep was extricated from their vehicle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

In accordance with Illinois state law, the Kane County Major Crimes and Officer Involved Death Task Force is conducting the investigation into the incident though a release from the coroner also indicated they are cooperating with an investigation by Aurora Police who were conducting the accident reconstruction investigation.

Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon will review the findings of the task force's investigation upon its completion.

A driver was killed in an accident in Aurora on Monday after they allegedly attempted to flee a traffic stop.

According to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, a Kane County Sheriff's deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Mountain St. and Farnsworth Ave. at around 8:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, who has not been further identified at this time pending notification of family members, allegedly fled northbound on Farnsworth, jumped the median and struck a vehicle Jeep that was headed southbound on Farnsworth Ave.

Officials say the driver was ejected from their vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep was extricated from their vehicle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
