Two firefighters and an emergency medical technician were injured in a violent inflatable boat explosion in the LaSalle County community of Oglesby on Wednesday night.
Oglesby Fire officials say in a statement that around 6:00 p.m. the Oglseby Fire and EMS Water Rescue Team went to the canoe landing on the Vermillon River for training near the Ed Hand Highway bridge.
Around 7:00 p.m., a rupture in the boat caused the explosion and the fire and EMT personnel were injured and were transported to Illinois Valley Community Hospital for treatment.
In an update on Thursday morning, fire officials said that the last firefighter was released from the hospital Thursday morning.
Officials said the investigation into the incident is taking place and they thanked area departments for offering assistance with coverage and to the community for prayers.
