Oswego Police say a 17 year-old former Oswego High School student is facing a misdemeanor charge in connection with Thursday's incident where an airsoft gun was found in a locker.
In an update, police say they arrested the 17 year-old male for Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon. Police now say that the male is alleged to have entered the school under false pretenses and had in his possession a plastic replica airsoft gun.
The male was arrested at the school on Thursday and following approval of charges, was transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.
He has his first juvenile court hearing on Friday morning.
WSPY reported on Thursday that the high school was placed on lockdown around 8:30 a.m. for reports of a student having a weapon.
A district statement said law enforcement secured the plastic airsoft gun that was found in a backpack inside of a locker. The item was not a threat to the safety of the students, the statement read.
Students resumed their normal daily schedule after the lockdown was ended at 8:38 a.m.
Police thanked the school district for their assistance in the investigation.

The item was not a threat to the safety of the students, the statement read.
Komitas said students resumed their normal daily schedule after the lockdown was ended at 8:38 a.m.
Police have not yet confirmed any details about any charges or other information about an individual or individuals involved with the incident. Police are conducting an investigation into the matter in cooperation with SD308 Administration.
Police say they will provide more information as the investigation is completed.

"Law enforcement placed Oswego High School on lockdown this morning after reports of a student having a weapon. Law enforcement secured the item and determined the item was not a threat to the safety of the students. The item that was found, in a backpack in a locker, was a plastic airsoft gun. The lockdown began at 8:31 and ended at 8:38. Students have resumed their normal daily schedule. The Oswego Police Department is conducting an investigation into this matter in cooperation with SD308 Administration."
