The Sandwich Police Department and the Sandwich School District are partnering to collect funds that will purchase safety kits for each school district classroom.

A two-person golf scramble will be held at Edgebrook Country Club in Sandwich on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Sandwich Police Chief Jim Bianchi spoke about the project.

Chief Bianchi says that the golf scramble will start at 11:00 a.m. on September 21, with registration at 10:00 a.m.

Bianchi added that the cost is $100 per golfer, which includes golf, cart, lunch and open bar after the golf round.

Beer will be available on the course and there will be raffles, games, prizes and more.

Chief Bianchi said that the event is getting some interest.

Funnel clouds were spotted north and south of Sandwich on May 16, and Bianchi said that the photos of the funnel clouds, prompted him to take action.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Sandwich Police Dept.

Questions can also be directed to the police department at (815) 786-7261.
