Charges have been filed against a Plano resident, following a five-car DUI crash in Yorkville, late Friday night.
Yorkville Police said they were called on Friday around 11:11 p.m. to the intersection of Route 34 and Cannonball Trl.
According to a report, 74 year-old Chaitanya Genge of Cotter Ct. in Plano was westbound on Route 34 when their vehicle rear ended a vehicle being driven by a 35 year-old Yorkville man, twice.
Police say that the Yorkville man moved out of the way to avoid being hit a third time. Genge then allegedly side swiped a 34 year-old Sandwich man's vehicle, striking their driver's side mirror.
Genge then allegedly went into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a vehicle head on, being driven by a 32 year-old Yorkville man.
That collision then caused debris to fly and strike a fifth vehicle, being driven by a 20 year-old Montgomery man.
Yorkville Police say Genge was the only person injured in the five-vehicle crash. Police initially transported Genge to the Kendall County Jail but after a re-evaluation, Genge was transported to Rush Copley Hospital for treatment.
Genge is charged with DUI-Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Lane Usage and Driving the Wrong Way.
