The question often arises during these hot summer months: what do you do if you see a pet or child locked up in a hot car?
Illinois State Police officials are commenting on that situation. ISP Trooper Mindy Carroll says the first thing you should do is call 9-1-1. She says give them your location and description of the vehicle and then wait at the car until help arrives.
Trooper Carroll also answers the question regarding further action.
Trooper Carroll advises having a witness with you in the situation that you have to break a window.
