Sandwich resident Gary Beins is challenging the election petitions of Second Ward alderman Kevin Kelleher.
An Electoral Board hearing will be held in the City Hall Annex at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
Beins spoke Wednesday about why he filed an objection to Kelleher's nominating papers.
Mayor Rich Robinson, City Clerk Denise Ii and alderwoman Cara Killey sit on the Sandwich Electoral Board. Kelleher was elected to the Sandwich City Council in 2017 by 16 votes over Dave Frraser.
Beins said that Kelleher shouldn't be on the ballot.
Beins was asked Wednesday if he would appeal to the 23rd Circuit Court in Sycamore if the Sandwich Electoral Board rules against him.
Rebecca Johnson is on the ballot opposing Kelleher for Ward 2 alderman.
Kelleher did not return a phone message.
