A LaSalle County Sheriff's deputy, who was found deceased in his vehicle on Saturday morning, is being remembered for his service.
Forty-year-old Brian Underwood of Marseilles is the deceased. Sheriff's office and coroner's office officials say foul play is not suspected in the death.
Over the weekend, Underwood was remembered by several area law enforcement agencies who offered tributes on their social media. Among those were Seneca and Marseilles Police Departments where Underwood was also a part-time officer for both departments.
LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton's office also issued a statement on Monday afternoon extending their sympathies to Underwood's family.
The sheriff's office says Underwood was an eight-year member of the sheriff’s office starting in corrections in August of 2010 and transferring to patrol deputy in June of 2014. Underwood was noted as, "being very dedicated to his law enforcement profession and always striving to meet the highest expectations."
Meanwhile, visitation and memorial services have been announced. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Seals-Campbell funeral home in Marseilles.
Underwood attended Marseilles Grade School and was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, the Class of 1997. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Authorities reported over the weekend that they expect to release more information in the incident as an autopsy is currently pending. A release from authorities indicated Underwood was found near the Grand Ridge area on N. 21st Rd. after he did not respond to radio contact.
The sheriff's office, coroner's office and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services Command are investigating the death.
