Several area Republican lawmakers were appointed or were re-appointed recently to leadership positions in the Illinois House and Senate.

Plainfield State Rep. Mark Batinick was named House Republican Floor Leader. The Plainfield Republican will be the minority caucus’ point person during the daily floor debates and discussions.

Over in the Senate, Morris State Sen. Sue Rezin was re-appointed as Assistant Republican Leader, a position she has held since 2015.

She spoke about the re-appointment.

Sugar Grove Sen. Jim Oberweis was also re-appointed as Senate Republican Whip.

Meanwhile, Democratic State Rep. Linda Chapa La Via of Aurora was elected as Asst. Majority Leader in the House.
