A Loves Park man was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance following an incident in Sandwich on Friday.

According to the Sandwich Police Department, 27-year-old Matthew McCrudden of Thomas Dr. was additionally issued a City Compliance Citation

for Possession of Cannabis.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding in the area of W. Church St. and Vincent Dr. at around 11:28 p.m.

Officials say a K-9 officer allegedly alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

The driver, who was not further identified, and McCrudden, a passenger, were removed from the vehicle and searched.

The officer allegedly located a metal tin in McCrudden's pocket which contained Adderall and Lorazepam pills.

McCrudden was able to provided a prescription for the Adderall, but could not for the Lorazepam.

A small amount of cannabis was removed from the vehicle next to McCrudden's seat.

The driver was not charged; McCrudden was arrested.

McCrudden was transported to the DeKalb County Jail for booking.
