An Ottawa man, who died on Thursday after apparently driving a vehicle  into the Illinois River in Ottawa, has been identified.

The LaSalle County Coroner's Office says 39 year-old Matthew Rosenstiel of Ottawa is the deceased.

Ottawa Police said Rosenstiel was found when the vehicle was pulled from the river at Allen Park, which is just over the river on the city's south side. Police and several other agencies had been called around 2:11 p.m. and the white SUV was taken out around 5:50 p.m. after a search of the river for the vehicle.

What caused the vehicle to be driven into the river is unknown at this point.

The LaSalle County Coroner's Office says the incident is under further investigation by their office and by Ottawa Police.

In an unrelated report, emergency crews were busy Thursday in Ottawa as a large warehouse at a lumber company on N. 2650th Rd. burned on Thursday night and into early Friday morning. No injuries were reported.
