Mendota Police say they have made an arrest but that a shooting did not occur, following that report made to them on Sunday.
Police say 38 year-old Matthew McPheeters of S. 13th Ave. in Mendota is charged with Battery.
On Sunday around 3:05 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a subject reporting he had been shot in the face with a firearm.
Officers arrived on scene and officials say investigation found no evidence of the discharge of a firearm, but it did find that signs of bodily harm to a victim were substantiated.
McPheeters was arrested later that day for allegedly battering the victim at the S. 13th Ave. address.
He posted bond and was released with an upcoming court date. Police are continuing to investigate.

Mendota Police are investigating an apparent shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning.
Police said officers were called to the 100 block of 13th Ave. around 3:00 a.m. where it had been reported someone sustained a gunshot wound.
Police have not released much additional information but say they are investigating and that anyone with information is asked for contact them.
Authorities also say there is no threat to the public.
