The Village of Montgomery has hired a community relations manager and has promoted their acting public works director to the permanent role.

Both announcements were made at this week's Montgomery Village Board meeting.

Corinne Vargas joins the village after working with the Plainfield Park District for over eight years.

In creation of the new position, earlier this year, village trustees discussed the desire to give Montgomery more of an identity.

Vargas will assist in website maintenance, social media promotion and more.

Meanwhile, Mark Wolf has been named public works director, replacing Rick Radde, who resigned in December of 2018. Wolf, who has been a Montgomery employee for several years, has been acting director ever since Radde's departure.

Wolf says even as head of the department, he plans to stay active on those grueling winter nights when public works staff are plowing snow so residents can get out in the morning.

Wolf says he is excited about his crew, village staff and growth in the village.
