LaSalle County Sheriff's Office officials say a Sandwich man was airlifted and citations were issued to both him and the driver of a pickup truck involved in a vehicle vs. lawn tractor accident, south of Sandwich on Tuesday.
In an update, Thursday afternoon, sheriff's officials told WSPY that 54 year-old Rodney Bolt of Sandwich was operating a lawn tractor when he entered the roadway from a ditch and the lawn tractor and a pickup truck collided. The truck was being driven by 52 year-old Michael Franklin of Sheridan.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the crash at E.29th Rd. or S. Main St. and N. 4550th Rd. at 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to officials, Franklin was headed north on S. Main St. at the intersection when his vehicle and Bolt's lawn tractor collided.
Officials said the male on the lawn tractor was in a ditch when he came up onto or near the roadway and was struck.
Bolt was airlifted via helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with significant injuries. Franklin was not injured.
He was cited in the crash for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. The sheriff's office says they also cited Bolt for Driving on a Suspended License.
