Yorkville Police say two people were hospitalized, including the operator of a motorcycle who was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with serious injuries, in a two-vehicle crash, late Thursday morning in Yorkville.
Police responded to the intersection of Route 34 at Sycamore Rd. where the crash occurred around 10:25 a.m.
According to police, a 69 year-old Yorkville man, driving a truck, slowed in traffic in the construction zone at the intersection when he was rear ended by a motorcycle being driven by 41 year-old Chris Whisenant of Cottonwood Dr. in Yorkville.
Police officials told WSPY that Whisenant was transported to Rush Copley Hospital and was then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital.
A passenger on the motorcycle, 42 year-old Annette Fox of the same address, was also taken to Rush Copley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police re-opened the intersection just before 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Police officials say that the driver of the truck was not injured and he was not cited.
Whisenant was cited in the crash for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
