An Earlville man was cited after a load of metal lockers he was hauling apparently broke free and caused damage to another vehicle in Yorkville on Saturday.

Yorkville Police say they were called around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday to the 14000 block of Route 71. Police say 76 year-old John Chapman of E. 16th Rd. was pulling a flatbed trailer, southbound on Route 71 when the single load strap holding cargo broke and a set of metal lockers fell off of the trailer into oncoming traffic.

The lockers struck the front bumper and hood area of a vehicle being driven by a 30 year-old Newark who had two juveniles in her vehicle.

No injuries were reported to anyone involved. Chapman was issued a citation for an Unsecured Load.
