No injuries were reported in a structure fire that left a home uninhabitable near Plainfield on Wednesday.
According to the Plainfield Fire Protection District, firefighters were dispatched to the 13000 blk. of Denise St. at around 3:30 p.m. following a 911 call.
The homeowners found black smoke inside of their attached garage upon arriving home.
Officials say the fire started in the backyard of the home on the deck and extended inside of the home near the kitchen.
Fire and smoke damage made the home uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
Plainfield Fire was assisted by the Bolingbrook and Romeoville Fire Departments, as well as the Lockport and Troy Grove Fire Departments.
Officials urge citizens to keep decks clear of heat sources and open flames.
