Officials in Montgomery and Aurora are sharing information about reported scam phone calls.
In a message from the Village of Montgomery, they shared a statement from Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman regarding an alert to citizens.
Chief Ziman said Aurora Police were made aware of calls being made from an A.P.D. number (630-256-5000) asking for social security numbers.
Ziman said that apparently the caller states a warrant will be issued for non-compliance. Police warn that this is a scam and is not originating from the Aurora Police Department and police ask that residents do not respond to the caller.
Officials in Montgomery say Montgomery residents reportedly received phone calls. Police are investigating the origin of the messages.
