Illinois State Police have provided more information regarding a crash that occurred in LaSalle County on I-80 last week.

According to ISP, two people were hospitalized in a crash last Monday on I-80 under I-39 near LaSalle.

According to a report, at approximately 11:38 a.m. that morning, a vehicle, being driven by 69 year-old Edward Getzen of Pewaukee, WI, was traveling southbound on I-39, approaching I-80 when his vehicle left the roadway and entered the median.

State Police say Getzen’s vehicle continued south in the median for several hundred feet before dropping off the embankment, onto I-80.

Getzen was airlifted from the scene to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, 62 year-old Lori Getzen of Pewaukee, WI, was also injured in the crash, and was transported to an area hospital.

State Police say it is unknown what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Edward Getzen was issued a citation for Improper Lane Usage.
