More information has been released regarding two crashes that led to one death and 11 others getting injured around 4 p.m. on Monday in Grundy County
Grundy County Coroner John Callahan told our sister station WCSJ that a rollover crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 just north of Braceville which in turn caused northbound traffic to stop.
The Illinois State Police said a Chevy driven by Stephen Fulse, 61, of Broadview failed to yield to traffic slowing down in the northbound lanes from the southbound as he struck a Dodge driven by Danielle Lucas, 44, of Downers Grove, which then caused her vehicle to strike a Honda driven by Linda Miller, 56, of Naperville causing a chain reaction.
Lucas and Miller and a combined three passengers were all transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Callahan said Fulse was pronounced dead on the scene. The Illinois State Police have not released any other details regarding what caused the rollover accident in the southbound lanes or who was involved.
No charges have been filed. Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Officers are investigating the accidents.
Our sister station WCSJ reports that The Grundy County Coroner’s office along with the Illinois State Police are investigating a traffic crash that occurred on I-55 near Braceville after 4:00 p.m. on Monday where one person was killed and 11 other people were injured.
Coroner John Callahan said preliminary investigation indicates there was a rollover crash in the southbound lanes of I-55 which in turn caused the northbound traffic to stop.
