The Oswego Education Association in a statement on social media endorsed the Oswego SD308 operating tax referendum that will appear on the Apr. 2 consolidated election ballot.
In a message on the "Vote Yes to Invest in 308" Facebook page, the OEA states that "continued cuts to educational opportunities for our students will significantly impact our school communities."
The school district is looking to add 30 cents on the current tax rate for its operating funds.
The cost would be $232 more for a home with an market value of $250,000. That figure represents $19 a month or 63 cents per day. The range of increase is $182 to $382 for a home market value $200,000 to $400,000.
The last SD308 operations fund tax increase was successful in 2005.
