Officials with the Oswego Police Department announced Friday morning that charges have been filed against an Oswego man in relation to recent liquor theft incidents in the city.

According to a press release, 40-year-old Bruno Rendina of Main St. is charged with two counts of Burglary and three counts of Retail Theft.

Police officials say that police were dispatched to a business in the 1100 blk. of Douglas Rd. at around 4:28 p.m. on Aug. 20 to investigate a retail theft that occurred on Aug. 19 at around 7:10 p.m.

A suspect, who has now been identified as Rendina, allegedly stole liquor valued at less than $300 from the business.

Officers were called to a business in the 1100 blk. of Douglas Rd. at around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday to investigate a retail theft that occurred a short time earlier.

Rendina allegedly stole liquor valued at around $285 in the incident.

On Monday, officers were called to a business in the 4500 blk. of Rt. 71 at around 9:46 a.m. to investigate a retail theft that had just occurred.

In this incident, Rendina allegedly stole liquor valued at around $128.

Through collaboration of the reporting businesses and the police department, it was determined that Rendina was the suspect in all three incidents.

As WSPY reported on Feb. 17, 2017 Rendina, who previously had an address in North Carolina, was arrested by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office in Oswego on a warrant for Second Degree Rape and Second Degree Kidnapping. Rendina had been a fugitive since Sept. 9, 2016.

An arrest warrant was issued for Rendina by a Kendall County judge for two counts of Burlgary and three counts of Retail Theft earlier this week, with bond set at $75,000.

Police officials later learned that Rendina is currently in custody in the Laurel County Detention Center in Kentucky on unrelated charges. Authorities in Laurel County have been made aware of the Kendall County arrest warrant.
