An Ottawa girl who is a member of the Serena Future Farmers of America Chapter was elected at the 91st annual Illinois State FFA Convention on Thursday to serve as treasurer with the 2019-2020 Illinois State FFA Officer Team.
According to a press release, Emma Freebairn is a 2019 graduate of Serena High School. Freebairn was also recognized this year by the organization and was named the 2018 District 2 Star Farmer.
Speaking on her election, Freebairn says "I want to contribute to our member's growth and leadership success by using the leadership skills FFA has taught me."
The state team that was chosen by delegates at the convention on Thursday will serve the Illinois Association FFA for the next 12 months.
Elected alongside Freebairn to the state team were president Gage Miller of Cambridge, vice president Lane Harvey of Fairfield, reporter Brodee McCormick of Athens and secretary Collin White of Forest City.
