A Plano man, charged with DUI, crashed his vehicle after Plano Police say they attempted to wake the man and he drove into a street sign.
Police responded to Sears Rd. and Vilman Rd. around 4:37 a.m. on Sunday for a vehicle stopped at a stop sign with the driver sleeping inside.
The driver was identified as 22 year-old Zachary Tomac of Creek Rd.
According to a press statement, police say when officers made contact with Tomac and woke him up, he drove forward through the intersection and crashed into a street sign.
Police say Tomac then allegedly kept his foot on the accelerator but being stuck on the sign prevented him from driving away.
Tomac refused to exit the vehicle when police broke the vehicle's window and took the man into custody.
Tomac is charged with DUI, DUI 0.08 or More, and was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
Police say he posted bond with them and was released with an upcoming court date.
