Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was in Plainfield on Wednesday as a part of a tour highlighting different projects in the "Rebuild Illinois" plan, which deals with infrastructure and roadway projects.
In Plainfield, the Governor spoke about a number of Will County projects, which includes $180 million to build new interchanges along I-55.
$1.2 Billion in work is planned for the Interstate 80 corridor. I-80 construction from New Lenox to Minooka will tentatively begin in 2023 and is expected last about five years. Public hearings are currently being held with IDOT in Joliet.
$148 million is also being implemented for work between Route 29 and Lorenzo Rd. A number of other investments around the county are also being made.
49th District Democratic Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, whose district covers portions of Will and Kendall Counties, also spoke.
The Governor also visited Lombard on Wednesday and discussed about $25 million worth of work to Route 56 in DuPage County, as well as other items.
