Community members are remembering a 2019 Newark High School graduate who died in a traffic crash near Newark on Tuesday night. 

The Cook County Bureau of Administration has now identified 18 year-old Ian Oldenburg as the deceased teenager who died, following the crash at Route 71 and E.2975th Rd. that occured at 5:38 p.m. on Tuesday. 

As WSPY reported earlier this week, LaSalle County Sheriff's officials told WSPY that five teenagers in total, two 18 year-old's and three juveniles, were involved in the crash. The other individuals were not identified. 

Three vehicles were involved in the crash. Sheriff's officials say the driver of one of the vehicles stopped suddenly in front of a second vehicle where the driver had to swerve onto the shoulder. A third vehicle behind the second vehicle crashed into the second vehicle.

Oldenburg was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Cook Co. while two others were taken to area hospitals to be treated for injuries. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office log indicates Oldenburg was pronounced deceased on Wednesday morning. 

Sheriff's officials say no citations or charges have been issued.

Since the accident, the hashtag #Newarkstrong has circulated. Newark Community High School boosters shared a post and says that donations are also being collected for funeral expenses. 

The post said, "Fly high, Ian and keep swinging for the fences!The Norsemen world holds you and your family in our hearts!"

LaSalle County Sheriff's officials say three teenagers were transported from the scene of a fatal crash near Newark on Tuesday night.

Sheriff's officials told WSPY that five teenagers in total, two 18 year-old's and three juveniles, were involved in the crash that occurred at Route 71 and E. 2975th Rd. at 5:38 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

An 18 year-old Newark teen, whose name has not been released, is the deceased, and was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Cook Co. while two others were taken to area hospitals to be treated for injuries. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office log indicates the 18 year-old was pronounced deceased on Wednesday at 11:54 a.m.
