Police in Mendota said Thursday that a purported child abduction and sexual assault report from earlier this week was determined to be unfounded.
According to a statement from police, around 6:00 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 600-700 block of 5th Street, in Mendota where the abduction and sexual assault was reported to have occurred.
However, police say after completing a forensic interview and further investigating the allegation, the matter was determined to be unfounded and the case was closed.
