Republican 16th District Congressman Adam Kinzinger says he'll vote in favor of the impeachment of President Donald Trump. A vote in the U.S. House of Representatives is expected Wednesday.
Kinzinger says that President Trump broke his oath of office and incited insurrection. An angry mob broke into the U.S. Capitol building last week as Congress was certifying the results of November's election. Lawmakers had to be evacuated for several hours. The mob formed after President Trump, and several close advisors, had given a speech to a massive crowd who had come to Washington, D.C. to protest the election results.
Kinzinger had just gotten off phone with his wife when the angry crowd broke in.
In Kinzinger's view, President Trump encouraged the mob and didn't do enough to discourage the violence after the fact. A few people died as result of the riots including two Capitol Police Officers.
The day after, Kinzinger called for Trump's removal through the use of the 25th Amendment.
