The Kendall County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased driver in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday night in rural Kendall County.
The coroner's office says 74 year-old Edmond Erickson of Sandwich is the deceased.
Illinois State Police officials said that three vehicles were involved in the crash at the intersection of Route 126 and Ridge Rd. in rural Na-Au-Say Twp. around 6:12 p.m. on Sunday
In an update, officials say Erickson, the driver of the semi, was traveling southbound on Ridge Rd. when he allegedly entered the intersection after the traffic light turned red.
The driver of a Dodge,a 63 year-old Bolingbrook man, was traveling eastbound on Route 126 and was struck by the semi. The man and a passenger, a 73 year-old Bolingbrook woman, were both seriously injured.
Officials say the semi then rolled into a Nissan Sentra that was stopped at the red light. The driver, a 33 year-old Plainfield man, was not injured.
The two injured vehicle occupants were transported to an area hospital and Erickson was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The coroner's office says Erickson's cause of death was determined as, "blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash."
There were no other injuries reported and no charges or citations have been issued. ISP are continuing to investigate the crash.
Illinois State Police issued a correction to indicate that the driver of the semi was headed south on Ridge Rd. and the driver of the Dodge was headed east on Route 126. A previous statement indicated incorrect directions.
