A 61 year-old Sandwich woman has been charged for allegedly shooting a 38 year-old male amid an argument on the east side of Aurora on Sunday night.

Aurora Police say Abigail Arellano of South Clark St. in Sandwich was arrested on a Class X Felony Aggravated Battery with a Firearm charge.

According to a report, the shooting happened just after 11:50 p.m. on Sunday in the 2000 block of Charles Ln. where officers were called because of reports of person being shot.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the 38-year-man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say it was learned that the male victim had allegedly been involved in an argument with Arellano and was subsequently shot in the abdomen.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where police say he underwent surgery for his injuries and is expected to survive.

Arellano was was located at the scene of the shooting. Police say she was later identified as the suspect and was taken into custody.

As of late Monday night, Arellano was being held at the Aurora Police Detention Center, but police said she would be transported to the Kane County Jail in the near future for bond court.
