UPDATE 12/11/17 AT 5:00 p.m. 

Yorkville Police say an Aurora man was airlifted from the Monday morning crash that shut down Route 47 at the intersection with Galena Rd. for several hours.

Upon arrival, it was learned that a semi tractor trailer driven by 56 year-old Kenneth Stade of Johnsburg had traveled through a red light southbound on Route 47 and struck a vehicle driven by 67 year-old Paul Eggert of Aurora who was traveling westbound on Galena Road.  

Police say Eggert's vehicle was then pushed into the guard rail at the intersection entrapping Eggert.  

Bristol Kendall Fire Department members and medics were able to complete the extrication at which time Eggert was airlifted to Good Samaritan in Downers Grove.  

Stade was not injured but was cited for Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.

Traffic was rerouted for several hours until the roadway re-opened in the afternoon. 

UPDATE 12/11/17 at 1:52 p.m. 

Yorkville Police officials said Monday afternoon that Route 47 in both directions has re-opened after the roadway was shut down on Monday morning at Galena Rd., due to an accident where details are still pending.

A fatal accident was just reported near the intersection on Saturday and officials announced the intersection closed again on Monday morning after a crash was reported around 7:30 a.m.

Police officials say a release of information on the crash will be coming shortly.

According to dispatch calls a Lifestar helicopter may have been called to scene and a vehicle and semi-may have been involved.

Just after a fatal accident was reported near the intersection on Saturday, WSPY has received word that Route 47 at Galena Rd. is closed on Monday morning after a crash was reported around 7:30 a.m. on Monday.

The roadway is currently closed while paramedics are on scene.

Authorities have not yet released any information on the crash but according to dispatch calls a Lifestar helicopter may have been called to scene.
