Numerous burglaries were reported around parts of DeKalb County in Sandwich, Shabbona and other parts of the county this week.
Sandwich Police officials say earlier this week, their department received reports of burglaries to vehicles and a garage.
Officials say they took four reports on Monday in Sandwich. Three of the reports, burglaries to vehicles, were in the 300 block of W. Pleasant Ave. and the other was a burglary to a garage in the 300 block of W. 3rd St.
DeKalb County Sheriff's Office officials say that multiple burglaries were reported, early Wednesday, in the 300 to 500 block of Cherokee St. in Shabbona where unlocked vehicles and a shed was hit.
Waterman Police also commented in a post Wednesday afternoon about Shabbona burglaries and burglaries they say are occurring around other residences in DeKalb County the past couple of days.
Police say it appears whoever is committing the burglaries are targeting unlocked cars in driveways, unsecured garage doors and items left in yards.
Police ask residents to take the time to lock up cars, houses and garages and to secure valuables and bring them inside and out of view. They also ask not to wait to report suspicious activity.
No arrests have been announced and it's not clear whether any or all of the burglaries around the county are related. Anyone with information can contact police, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office or DeKalb County CrimeStoppers.
