A Shabbona man is facing charges for Resisting a Peace Officer, DUI and several citations after authorities say the man attempted to get away during an incident, early Friday morning that started on Route 30, near Shabbona.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says a traffic stop was attempted around 2:00 a.m. on Route 30, east of Tower Rd. where 51 year-old James Baker of S. Shabbona Rd. was allegedly observed speeding and crossing lane lines.
A phoned in driving complaint was made to authorities when a deputed attempted to stop the vehicle but Baker continued to the driveway of his home.
The sheriff's office alleges that Baker admitted to drinking and refused sobriety tests when authorities attempted to put him into a squad car but instead, Baker turned and attempted to climb a fence to get away.
Baker was taken into custody and was transported to the DeKalb County Jail for booking. In addition to the DUI and Resisting charges, Baker was cited for Speeding, and Improper Lane Usage.
