County Board members Amy Cesich and Audra Hendrix attended the Illinois Association of County Board Members "Cannabis and Counties" seminar on August 1 in Springfield.

Cesich spoke following the August 6 Kendall County Board meeting about recreational cannabis being sold in unincorporated Kendall County.

The Chicago suburbs of Naperville, Libertyville and Bloomingdale have already opted out of selling cannabis.

Cesich cited the main reason why she believes pot should be sold in Kendall County.

Kendall County Board member Matthew Prochaska said that he thinks the cannabis issue should go to the voters in a referendum.

The Illinois Municipal League wants the Illinois State Legislature to pass another cannabis bill.

Sen. Heather Steans of Chicago, one of the original bill's sponsors, said a trailer bill is needed to clarify the growing parameters for medical marijuana patients who now will be able to grow cannabis in their homes.
