In 2019, officials with the Illinois State Police say troopers plan to crack down on drivers who are stay put while driving in the left lane on interstates and large highways.
State Police say a traffic law was passed two years ago in Springfield regarding "improper use of the left lane" and if you are caught doing so, a $120 fine could be issued.
Police officials remind drivers that the left lane is to be used to pass other vehicles or for moving over for an emergency vehicle.
The law applies for four-lane, two-way roadways like interstates and large highways.
Illinois State Police say though that their main focus of enforcement in 2019 will be catching DUI drivers, speeders, those not wearing a seatbelt and distracted driving.
