UPDATE 9/14/19 AT 5:45 A.M.

Charges have been secured against a Chicago man in relation to a stolen vehicle incident that occurred in Yorkville on Thursday.

According to the Yorkville Police Department, 20-year-old Terrod Shelton of 94th St. is charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding in a Stolen Vehicle, Fleeing and Eluding and Driving While License Suspended.

Officials say that a blue Toyota Camry was stolen from a business in the 500 blk. of Center Pkwy around 8:38 a.m. The vehicle was located by officers near the intersection of Wren Rd. and Montrose Ct., unoccupied.

A search effort was conducted by multiple agencies and additional evidence was gathered. Police officials provided a description of the suspect, who has now been identified as Shelton, to the public.

Police discontinued their search in the Country Hills Subdivision on Thursday afternoon.

Police say Shelton fled on foot. Area schools were notified and were placed on soft lockdowns on Thursday.

At around 3:34 p.m. on Thursday, a resident called police and advised that they observed Shelton walking in the city limits.

Shelton was detained; it was discovered that Shelton also had a traffic warrant out for his arrest out of LaSalle County.

Shelton is currently being held at the Kendall County Jail, where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

Yorkville Police thank the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Oswego Police Department, Minooka Police Department, Bristol Kendall Fire Department and the Oswego Fire Department for their assistance in the case.

UPDATE 9/13/19 AT 9:00 A.M.

A suspect in the Yorkville stolen vehicle case has been identified.

That police information was included in a city memo Friday where police say that they attempted to interview the suspect with little success after placing him on an investigative hold. Police are obtaining search warrants.

A suspect was wanted in relation to an alleged vehicle theft from Thursday morning. Police still ask if the public has any information about the incident to contact authorities.

Police discontinued a search in the Country Hills Subdivision on Thursday afternoon. A perimeter was established and police said evidence of the crime was located.

Police said in a statement earlier on Thursday morning that a blue Toyota Camry was stolen from the 500 blk of Center Pkwy around 8:38 a.m. The vehicle was located by officers near the intersection of Wren Rd. and Montrose Ct.

Yorkville Police say a suspect wanted in relation to an alleged vehicle theft from Thursday morning was not located and they ask if the public has any information to contact authorities.

Police discontinued their search in the Country Hills Subdivision on Thursday afternoon. A perimeter was established and police say evidence of the crime was located but the suspect was not.

Police say the alleged offender is a black male, approximately 30-40 years of age. He was wearing work boots, dark color jeans, a gray long sleeve shirt and a white baseball cap.

Police said in a statement earlier in the morning that a blue Toyota Camry was stolen from the 500 blk of Center Pkwy around 8:38 a.m. The vehicle was located by officers near the intersection of Wren Rd. and Montrose Ct.

Police say the man fled on foot. Area schools were notified and were placed on soft lockdowns on Thursday. Police are continuing to have an increased presence as a precautionary measure.

Yorkville Police say they are still searching for a suspect wanted in relation to an alleged vehicle theft from Thursday morning.

In a recent update, police say the alleged offender is a black male, approximately 30-40 years of age. He was wearing work boots, dark color jeans, a gray long sleeve shirt and a white baseball cap.

Police say the man fled on foot toward the Country Hills Subdivision off of Route 71 on the south side of the city. Police said area schools have been notified and police have an increased presence as a precautionary measure. Yorkville Middle School and Yorkville Christian High School were placed on soft lockdown Thursday morning.
