A teen driver, who has not been further identified, is in critical condition, following a crash near downtown Aurora on Monday night.
Aurora Police say the crash happened just after 11:15 p.m. near North Lake St. and Williams St.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had struck a utility pole. Aurora Fire Department Paramedics also responded to the scene and started
providing medical care to the driver as firefighters worked to free the male driver from the vehicle.
Officials say that a medical helicopter was requested to the scene, but was unable to respond due to weather conditions.
The driver was transported to Copley Hospital in critical condition and was later transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he remains.
Officials say that during the course of an investigation, officers identified a second vehicle that may have played a factor in the circumstances the crash or may have witnessed the crash.
The second vehicle was located early Tuesday morning and officials say the driver gave a statement to police. Investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Aurora Police or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers.
