Three people were taken to the hospital on Thursday night, following a two-vehicle crash, north of Somonauk in DeKalb County.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says that authorities were called to the intersection of Somonauk Rd. and Suydam Rd. around 9:21 p.m. for a report of an accident with injuries.
Investigation found that a 17 year-old juvenile from Waterman was driving westbound on Suydam Rd. and was stopped at a stop sign. They then entered the intersection and allegedly failed to yield to a vehicle being driven by 31 year-old Ashley O'Brien of Linda Ln., which is on the Sandwich side of Lake Holiday.
O'Brien and her one-year-old child were transported from the scene to Valley West Hospital. A passenger in the 17 year-old's vehicle, 18 year-old October Gradows of Phoenix, Arizona, was also transported to Valley West. All sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Somonauk Fire handled the transports.
The 17 year-old was not injured but was cited in the crash for Failure to Yield at a Stop Intersection.
