The Kane County Forest Preserve District says that the Virgil Gilman Trail at Bliss Woods Forest Preserve in Sugar Grove will be temporary closed, to allow for bridge work.
The trail will be closed west of the Route 56 crossing to Bliss Road, within the preserve. The highway crossing at the Route
56 bridge will remain open.
The work will start on Monday, July 8 and is expected to reopen on Saturday, July 20, barring any weather-related delays.
Signs to notify users of the temporary Virgil Gilman Trail closure will be placed on both ends of the project.
Work at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, located at 1680 Fifth Ave. in Aurora, begins Monday and is expected to reopen on Friday, June 28, barring any weather-related delays.
The Forest Preserve District will be pouring concrete abutments and setting the bridge back in place. There will be no connection to the
bridge until work is done, within the preserve.
Signs to notify trail users of the temporary closure will be placed on both ends of the project.
